Oklahoma Firefighter Exams

Each Oklahoma fire department may choose which exam they require candidates to take in order to become a firefighter. The exam may be provided by an assessment company. Find out which exam your department requires you to take to get you one step close to becoming a firefighter.


The Norman Fire Department requires you to take IO Solutions NFSI. The exam will last for 2 hours and 30 minutes. You will need a score of 70% or higher to pass. This exam is divided into two sections: Cognitive and Personality.

The Cognitive section includes 105 questions spread out over 8 sections: verbal comprehension, verbal expression, problem sensitivity, deductive reasoning, inductive reasoning, information ordering, mathematical reasoning and number facility items.

The Personality section is a job-related personality attributes, which includes 50 items, consisting of stress tolerance, team orientation and motivation/attitude.

Oklahoma City

To join the Oklahoma City Fire Department you will need to take a written exam. The written exam consists of 100 multiple-choice questions. It may include questions related to Mechanical Ability, Reasoning and Problem Solving, Mathematical Ability, Reading Ability, Spatial Ability, Verbal Expression and Customer Service/Teamwork.
