J.P. Morgan Chase Loan Processor Assessment Tests

As a loan processor, you may be required to take J.P. Morgan Chase's pre-employment assessment tests to demonstrate your knowledge and professionalism. J.P. Morgan Chase offers a number of pre-employment tests to its job applicants, several of which estimate the professional aptitude of potential loan processors.

Math/Numerical Reasoning Test

A pre-employment math test, also known as a numerical reasoning test, is the measurement of how applicants process numerical data. The tasks given on the test will require you to make such basic calculations as adding, substracting, multiplying, and dividing. Be prepared to make these calculations not only with whole numbers but also with fractions and decimals.

The job level for which you are applying often determines the type or level of quantitative test you will encounter. Difficulty levels may vary, in addition to variations in question topics and contexts, making a test potentially easier or more difficult. Furthermore, the testing time frame can also vary, as some tests take from 20 to 90 minutes to complete, while others are untimed.

Logical and Verbal Reasoning

Other tests that may be offered to a candidate for the position of a loan processor are the Logical Reasoning and the Verbal Reasoning. The Logical Reasoning Test measures your inductive and deductive reasoning abilities, usually by using nonverbal methods. On the test, you will be asked to interpret patterns, number sequences, and the relationship between shapes. By using structured thinking, you will also need to deduce from a short passage which of a number of statements is the right response to a posed question. To do this correctly, you will need to know how to isolate components in any given argument.

The Verbal Reasoning Test is the measurement of job candidates' ability to reason using components expressed verbally. It estimates how you understand verbal logic and complex information. On the test, you will be given a text accompanied by a few statements related to it. Your task will be to decide what is the truth value of these statements and mark them either "True" or "False." Sometimes, there will be not enough information to decide whether a given statement is true or false; in this case, you will need to write that its truth value is indeterminate. The Verbal Reasoning Test often encompasses such tests as English proficiency, grammar and spelling, vocabulary, written communication, and reading comprehension.

Abstract and Figural Reasoning

The Abstract/Figural Reasoning Test estimates how well you draw assumptions and conclusions from the information supplied in the form of symbols or matrices. On this test, you will analyze given patterns and identify a missing item or diagram that logically completes them. The Abstract/Figural Reasoning Test also assesses your ability to understand and analyze visual information through pattern recognition, generate hypotheses, change tracks, and evaluate given data critically.

Personality Test

Managers at J.P. Morgan Chase aim to employ people who would interact with the rest of the staff in a friendly and productive manner. They also avoid recruiting people who would exhibit counterproductive behavior such as absenteeism, theft, or time wasting. To ensure that they hire the right people, employers at J.P. Morgan Chase ask potential candidates to take the Personality Test that assesses whether their personality profile is compatible with the job profile. The Personality Test is considered to be a more precise judgment of a candidate's personality than interviewing, because it may reveal hidden personality traits that applicants would not necessarily demonstrate during the conversation with recruiters. The Personality Test is not timed and consists of two types of tasks. You will either analyze people's reaction to specified events or evaluate your own attitude to certain circumstances on the scale from one to five.
