To become a police officer in Edmond you need to take a written exam. The exam covers four areas: mathematics, grammar, reading comprehension and report writing. You do not need to have any prior knowledge of police work or police experience to take the test. You need to score a minimum of 70%. The written exam takes approximately 3 hours.

To become a police officer in Oklahoma City you need to take an Aptitude Test. This is a timed test. You must receive a minimum score of 70%. This exam is consists of multiple choice questions along with a writing skills sections. The five areas on this exam are: visual memory/report writing skills, vocabulary and word usage, reading recall and comprehension, basic math and cognitive definition and logic measurement.
To become a Tulsa police officer you must take an IO Solutions Exam. The exam has two sections. A cognitive section and a behavioral and attitude section. The cognitive sections consists of 12 job related areas containing 100 multiple choice questions. The subject areas are verbal comprehension, verbal expression, problem sensitivity, deductive reasoning, inductive reasoning, information ordering, spatial orientation, mathematical reasoning, number facility, visualization, selective attention and flexibility of closure items. The behavioral and attitude component of the police officer exam consists of 140 items. The time allowed for you to work on the exam is two hours and 30 minutes.
