The first three sections, Mathematics, Reading Comprehension and Grammar are multiple-choice and True/False formats. The fourth section is Incident Report Writing where you are required to write. The exam may relate to police work but no prior knowledge of law or law enforcement is needed to answer the questions.

  • Mathematics: In this section, you will be provided with situations that require the use of basic arithmetic. You are not allowed to use a calculator, scratch paper will be provided.
  • Reading Comprehension: This section measures reading comprehension. You will read passages related to police work and then answer questions based on these passages.
  • Grammar: This section of the exam requires you to identify errors in grammar, punctuation, or spelling. There are two types of questions presented in this section. The first type is incomplete sentences. You will need to choose the alternative that best completes the sentence. The second type of question are sentences that contain a spelling error. You will have to choose the alternative that contains the misspelled word.
  • Incident Report Writing: This section tests your writing skills. In this section, you will read a completed sample incident report form. You will then use the information contained on the form to answer a question regarding the incident. The sentences must be grammatically correct and all words should be correctly spelled.
