Pre-Employment testing

Several positions at FirstEnergy require pre-employment tests. After you apply for a position that matches your skills and expertise, you may be required to undergo such a selection test. Edison Electric Institute (or EEI), the association that represents all US investor owned electric companies, conducts these tests.

There Are Several EEI Tests

The type of EEI test that you will take depends on the position to which you apply; Each test is designed to assess the candidate’s qualities required for that particular position. The test score is translated into the probabilities of successful job performance. The EEI tests administered at FirstEnergy are:

  • POSS test - for plant operating positions
  • MASS test - for plant maintenance positions
  • CAST test - for professional positions
  • TECH test - for technical positions
  • SASS test - for administrative positions
  • SO/PD test - for system operating / power dispatching positions
  • MRAB test - for meter reading positions
