What is the Wonderlic Scholastic Level (SLE) Test?

Simply put, this is a cognitive abilities test used by academic institutions, like universities and college programs with a few aims. Obviously, the colleges want to both increase the retention of their students, boost graduations rates, and bolster job placement amongst those graduates. These factors make the school more attractive. By achieving these goals, the colleges also reduce the rates of loan defaults as well.


What is the Wonderlic Scholastic Level (SLE) Test Format?

The test comes in two formats: 

Wonderlic Scholastic Level Exam-Pretest: The pre-test is used by institutions before the interview process even begins. This allows the institution to weed out unwanted applicants early on in the process. The exam as administered online via a remote location, like the applicants' homes. The test only contains 30 questions and must be finished within 8 minutes. 

Wonderlic Scholastic Level Exam: The full exam is administered on site and is proctored, meaning there will be a school official to ensure no cheating. After the school has weeded out bad applicants in the pre-test round, the full test will include 50 questions, which must be completed within 12 minutes. Note that the test administrations can present the exam in either a paper or electronic format.


Wonderlic Scholastic Level (SLE) Test Scores

The score needed to pass the test will differ from program to program and institution to institution. However, what is certain is that anything below a 20 will put you out of the running. Therefore, it is important to practice and study up before taking the exam.

Wonderlic SLE College Entrance Exams

Vocational study programs often require the popular Wonderlic SLE, but the required test can vary depending on the academic institution. For example, some schools also require their students to take the Wonderlic Basic Skills Test (WBST).

Wonderlic SLE Nursing Programs

Some programs and professions that utilize Wonderlic tests are nursing, medical assisting, dental assisting, physical therapist assistant, and occupational therapist assistant. In fact, Almost all nursing programs in the U.S. require applicants to take a Wonderlic test as part of the application process. Some of the programs use the Wonderlic SLE (Scholastic Level Exam) while others use the WBST (Wonderlic Basic Skills Test).

Pima Medical Institute Wonderlic SLE Exam

Pima Medical Institute utilizes the Wonderlic Scholastic Level Entrance exam as its admissions test for the application to all its programs. Each program at Pima Medical Institute requires a different minimum passing score. For example, the minimum passing score for admission to the radiography program is 20, while the minimum passing score for admission to the nursing program is 23. It is highly recommended that you ask the program director or campus representative what the minimum passing score is for your chosen program.

Keiser University Wonderlic SLE Exam

Keiser University uses the Wonderlic Basic Skills Test (WBST), Wonderlic Scholastic Level Exam (SLE), and the Wonderlic General Assessment Test (GAIN). Concorde Career College Wonderlic SLE Exam

The Wonderlic SLE, also known as the SLE, measures how quickly and thoroughly students understand instructions, learn and comprehend new material, and cope with the complexity of school. Additionally, for some programs, Concorde Career College also utilizes the Wonderlic Basic Skills Test (WBST), which is an exam measuring basic math and verbal skills. Both the math and verbal tests are 20 minutes in length and are mainly used to highlight your work readiness.
