The Electrical Maintenance Test is a pre-employment test conducted for candidates for electrician and electrical maintenance jobs. Therefore, it is also often referred to as an Electrical Maintenance Test.
The test is administered by Ramsay Corporation, the world’s leading provider of professional and mechanical assessments. Individual sections of this test are used in nearly all major Ramsay tests, including the Amazon Maintenance Technician Test and the Ramsay MultiCraft Maintenance Test.
It contains 60 questions on 8 content areas and lasts about an hour.

The Ramsay Electrical Test covers 8 topics:
All questions on the Ramsay Electrical Test are multiple-choice with 4 answer options. Some questions include schematics and prints, especially in the Schematics, PLC, and Electronics sections.
Below are 6 sample questions to demonstrate the test's level of content.
Schematics

AC/DC Theory
In a 110V electrical system, there are three appliances: appliance A (550W) appliance B (770W), and appliance C (330W). Given that all appliances operate simultaneously, what is the minimum required fuse rating?
Control Circuits
Identify the relay type shown below:
Electronics and PLC
What is the equivalent Boolean expression for the PLC program below?

There is no clean-cut passing score for the ElecTest, and that score depends on the specific position you applied to, as well as the mean score of other candidates.
However, according to the official test statistics provided by Ramsay Corporation, the estimated passing score of the Ramsay Electrical Test is around 40/60. That calculation is based on an average score of 32/60 and a standard deviation of 9.5.
That score might seem low, but it contains the top 20% of test scores, the common threshold on pre-employment tests.
Here are 3 important tips to maximize your Ramsay Electrical Test Score:
#1 – Learn Your Way Around Schematics
Reading and interpreting electrical schematics is one of the major topics on the Ramsay Electrical Test. In fact, this topic alone (combined with control circuits) constitutes nearly 20% of the test questions.
In addition, you will also be required to read electrical schematics in other test topics, such as PLCs, Motors, Electronics, etc.
Make sure you have a very good understanding of the various annotations and symbols used in electrical prints, ladder logic schematics, etc. It is invaluable for your success on the test.
#2 – Review the Theory
Although the Ramsay Electrical Test puts great emphasis on practical knowledge, it is, after all, a written test. As such, many questions will deal with the theoretical foundations and definitions of topics included.
That is one of these areas where job experience can actually harm your chances – since the theory is often not required in day-to-day work, many experienced candidates tend to forget these concepts over the years.
Don’t make that mistake. When going through Ramsay Electrical Test practice tests, make sure you understand the definitions and theoretical grounds behind every question you solve.
#3 – You Can Return to Your Answers and Change Them
That important tip is going to be of great help during your prep. If you find a question particularly difficult, don’t spend time too much time on it. Select an answer and mark it for later review (the test interface allows you to do so).
Sometimes, disconnecting from the question and getting back to it later, after most of the test is behind you, can give you a fresh, more relaxed look at the question.
Important note: Since an unanswered question is scored 0, always pick some answer before clicking the “Review” checkbox. That will make sure that even if you forget to review the question (or ran out of time) you will not leave it blank.
