Amazon uses different mechanical assessments when hiring Maintenance Technicians and RME Technicians. Depending on your role, you receive either the Amazon Ramsay Maintenance Test or Wiesen Test of Mechanical Aptitude.

Amazon uses different assessments for Maintenance Technician and RME Technician candidates. Check your test invitation for the test name, duration, or number of questions to identify which assessment you're taking.

The Amazon Ramsay Test is a variation of the Ramsay Mechanical Test covering professional topics in maintenance, mechanics, and electricity. The assessment comes in three levels: Maintenance Technician 1 (MT-1A19), Maintenance Technician 2 (MT-2A19), and Maintenance Technician 3 (MT-3A19).
For almost all Amazon Maintenance roles, you will have to take either Tech 2 or Tech 3.

Both versions cover Print Reading, Power Transmission and Preventive Maintenance, Materials/Tools/Equipment, Pneumatics and Hydraulics, Electrical Theory and Control Circuits, and Test Instruments. Tech 3 is more advanced and includes an additional topic, commonly Electronics and PLC.

The Wiesen Test of Mechanical Aptitude (WTMA) assesses your understanding of basic mechanical and physical principles. It may be used for some Amazon Maintenance and RME Technician candidates and focuses on applying these principles to practical problems.

Wiesen questions often use familiar, everyday objects to test mechanical principles. While the scenarios may look simple, relying on intuition rather than the underlying principle can easily lead to the wrong answer.
This question is a classic case of the trap of intuition.
Kettle B is higher and has a larger volume, and initially seems as if it can contain more water.
However, the kettle can only contain water to the height of the spout before it starts pouring out. The spout at kettle B is shorter, and the total water height can be lower than in kettle A.

The Amazon Maintenance Technician Test is a pre-employment assessment used to evaluate candidates applying for Amazon Maintenance Technician and many RME Technician roles. Depending on the position and hiring process, candidates may be asked to complete different technical assessments, most commonly the Amazon Ramsay Maintenance Technician Test or the Wiesen Test of Mechanical Aptitude. In addition to these technical assessments, many candidates are also required to complete Amazon's behavioural tests: the Work Style Assessment and Work Simulation Test.
After your application is shortlisted, Amazon will invite you by email to schedule your assessment, usually within a few days. The test is typically administered online through a third-party proctoring platform, where you'll need a computer with a webcam, microphone, speakers or headphones, and a valid government-issued photo ID. During the assessment, you may use scratch paper and an on-screen calculator if one is provided.
ADIA is a third-party testing platform that Amazon may use to schedule and remotely proctor the Amazon Maintenance Technician assessment. ADIA manages the testing session and verifies your identity, while the technical assessment itself is provided by Amazon's testing partner.
The most effective way to prepare is to practice the same types of questions you'll encounter on the real assessment. Most candidates have only a few days to prepare, so focus on the topics that carry the greatest weight and practice under realistic test conditions.

1. Prioritize the highest-weighted topics.
Spend most of your study time on Power Transmission & Preventive Maintenance, Electrical Theory & Control Circuits, and Test Instruments, as these account for a large share of the Ramsay assessment.
2. Don't overlook the basics.
Refresh core concepts such as Ohm's Law, circuit analysis, basic mechanics, and electrical principles. These questions are often straightforward, making them valuable opportunities to score easy points.
3. Think like a maintenance technician.
Many questions require troubleshooting rather than memorization. As you practice, focus on diagnosing faults, identifying causes, and selecting the most effective solution.

Candidates who pass the assessment are typically invited to a final interview with an Amazon recruiter or hiring manager. The interview usually combines technical questions with behavioral questions based on Amazon's Leadership Principles.

After successfully passing the Amazon Maintenance Technician Test, you'll typically be invited to one or more interviews with an Amazon recruiter or hiring manager. In addition to technical questions about maintenance, troubleshooting, and your previous experience, you should expect behavioral questions based on Amazon's Leadership Principles. Most candidates prepare their answers using the STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) method, which Amazon commonly recommends for behavioral interviews.

Yes. Amazon uses different assessments depending on the role you're applying for. Candidates for Control Systems Technician and Control Systems Lead positions complete a different technical assessment, while applicants for the Mechatronics & Robotics Apprenticeship (RME Apprenticeship) take a separate apprenticeship assessment. If you're applying for one of these positions, it's best to prepare with practice materials designed specifically for that assessment.
