How to Pass the CVS Interview

The CVS Interview is an important stage in the CVS hiring process. For most positions, it is the final stage of the interview process, after which management makes the decision whether or not to hire the candidate. the interview will usually follow the CVS Virtual Job Tryout Assessment. Candidates for technical positions must undergo a test of their technical skills after the interview.

For this reason, it is important to clearly understand what the CVS interview evaluates and how it is structured. This article contains an explanation for the CVS interview and an explanation about how to answer a sample question.

What Is the CVS Interview?

The CVS interview is intended to be a key stage in the CVS hiring process. It is 20 to 30 minutes long, and usually includes both regular interview questions and behavioral questions intended to gauge whether the candidate is a good fit with the CVS workplace culture and values.

During the interview, the interviewer will ask you questions that you are already used to hearing during job interviews, such as ‘Why are you applying for this job?’. ‘What skills do you bring to the table’, or ‘What is your greatest strength and weakness?’ You should aim to answer those questions calmly and truthfully.

However, the questions that challenge most candidates are the so-called ‘Behavioral’ questions. They will typically be questions about a typical workplace situation, such as seen below.

Sample Interview Question

If a customer was upset, how would you handle it?

Possible answer: In my past experience, I have developed a way to approach dissatisfied customers. I would hear out their complaints, making sure I got enough information to get to the root of their problem. I would ask leading questions if I had to, in order to find out exactly what the underlying problem was.

I would resolve the customer’s problem to the best of my ability if it was within the scope of my position, and if it was not, I would escalate the response to my manager. It is important to me to address the customer’s concerns and make sure I leave a positive impression.

This answer accomplishes two important things for the candidate:

On one hand, it lets the interviewer know that the candidate has previous experience resolving workplace problems (if you do not have such experience, you can at least show you have learned about the issues you might face in the workplace and prepared yourself to deal with them)

On the other hand, it demonstrates that the candidate is a good fit with CVS company values, willing to address the customer’s needs with empathy.
