Vertafore uses the CCAT to make their initial selection of candidates from the applicant pool. The Criteria Cognitive Aptitude Test (CCAT) measures cognitive aptitude and various critical factors that contribute to performance at work. These factors include such abilities as critical thinking, problem solving, attention to details, learning and applying new information, among others. To evaluate applicants’ cognitive aptitude more accurately, the CCAT is broken into three parts:
The major difficulty of the test is its short time limit; you are required to answer 50 questions within 15 minutes. On average, you have 30 seconds for each question. Note, your CCAT score is given in different formats. You receive either a raw score, counting your correct answers, or a percentile score, which estimates how well you have done on the test, relative to the performance of other candidates. To track your progress on each section of the test, and thus better understand which of your cognitive abilities is stronger, you will also be given a mark for each individual part of the test.

The first interview is via Skype, during which you will be required to retake your Criteria Cognitive Aptitude Test. You may also have an informal conversation with your interviewer about the company and its objectives.
Once your CCAT results are verified, you will be called by a hiring manager by phone. The second interview usually takes about 30 minutes and is centered around your professional competency and previous working experience. If you apply for positions such as software developer, QA analyst, or engineer, you may also be asked technical questions. The last interview is with Vertafore representatives at one of the company’s locations.
