Lockheed Martin Hiring Process

After you apply for your chosen position online, a Lockheed Martin representative will contact you by phone to schedule a face-to-face interview at the facility to which your position belongs. It is the company’s practice to interview a group of candidates for different positions at a specially organized hiring event, bringing up to 30 people together. At the event, you may be interviewed twice, depending on the position for which you have applied.

The Industrial Skill Test

The Industrial Skill Test, prodvided by PSI, consists of three assessments measuring your knowledge of mechanics, your numerical skills, and your language proficiency. Your ability to interpret charts and graphs is evaluated, too.

Mechanical Principles Test - Evaluates your understanding of basic physical and mechanical concepts. In this test, you will study different physical and mechanical scenarios and answer questions about properties of the system or how it will reach to specific changes. The Mechanical Principles Test comprises 36 items and is limited to twenty minutes.

Working with Numbers, Charts, and Graphs - Requires you to draw appropriate conclusions from information derived from graphs and charts.  The test also contains math problems. There are 25 items on this test, which you need to analyze within half an hour.

Reading Comprehension - Estimates your ability to read and understand instructions. This section contains 25 passages using language and settings relevant to the industrial field and has a 30-minute limit.

All three sections are included in our PrepPack™ for the Lockheed Martin assessment test, along with English proficiency and personality test preparation.

Lockheed Martin Interviews

The first interview has the STAR format – Situation, Task, Action, and Results. During it, the company assessors will evaluate your behavior according to the following four criteria:

  • Situation: You will be asked about challenges and difficult situations you faced.
  • Task: You will be required to tell what you were trying to achieve in these situations.
  • Action: You will need to describe your actions in these situations, explain why you performed these actions, and what alternatives you had.
  • Results: You will talk about the outcome of your actions and what you learned from your experience.

The second interview contains mostly technical questions and is scheduled for those who apply for such positions as Software Engineer, PC Refresh Technician, Data Analytics Developer, and System Engineer, among others.

Interview Questions

Interviewers at Lockheed Martin ask job candidates behavioral and technical questions, depending on the position for which they applied. Some examples of interview questions are listed below:

  • What types of teams have you worked with?
  • Tell me about a time, when you had to inform your boss of a problem.
  • What kinds of conflicts did you have with your co-workers and how you resolved them?
  • Describe the most technically challenging project you have ever done.
  • What is OOP?
  • What is polymorphism?
  • What is inheritance?
  • What is an abstract class?
  • What is FINAL in java?

Before you go to the interview, it is advisable to look up STAR format questions and answers and refresh your knowledge of technical terms, if you are competing for software engineering positions. It will also help you to impress prospective employers if you familiarize yourself with the mission and objectives of Lockheed Martin Company.
