Prepare for Southern Company's SKAT Electrician Test

The purpose of the SKAT Electrician Test is to measure your knowledge in electricity, tools and precision measurement which are performed by Electricians and Rotating Equipment Repairmen. The test contains questions that emphasize the understanding of the subjects, along with the ability to apply the knowledge.

The SKAT Electrician Test consists of three parts:

1. Mechanical Reasoning. This part lasts around 75 minutes and includes 107 questions.  You will be asked on several topics such as: transformers, transformers' switches and components and more. 

2.  Tools and Precision Measurement Equipment. This part lasts around 17 minutes. You will be asked on efferent working tools names and usage. 

3. Mathematical Usage. This part combined of three parts which lasts five minutes each. It includes questions like converting inches to feet and graphs' reading. 

All in all the test lasts around two hours. If you failed the test and the position hasn't filled yet, you can retake it 45 days after the first attempt. 

Southern Company's hiring process consists a few stages. After submitting your CV you will be required to complete and pass a skills test to be considered for an interview. Recruiters will send invitations by email to candidates selected to test.

Using the information on the email invitation, register for and take the test. If you successfully pass all required skills tests, a recruiter will evaluate your submission for further advancement.

If you manage to successfully pass the SKAT test, you will be invited to an interview. This interview is conducted either face-to-face or by telephone depending on the job for which you have applied.
