Japan Airlines Hiring Process

It’s important to note that any extra languages you may know will be tested during the application process. Also, the recruitment process greatly differs depending on which job you are applying for. Below are a few examples:

  • Online Resume Submission: Most past Japan Airlines job applicants have applied via their main website. There you can search for current job listings and find out when they are looking for the completive flight attendant positions.
  • Pre-Employment Telephone Screening: Depending on the job you are applying for, you could receive a telephone interview. This would be the first wave of interviews after applying.
  • Face-to-Face Interview: Customer service, managers, and other grounded jobs’ on-sight interviews are relatively relaxed. Japan Airlines upper management will ask if you have related experience and tell you about the benefits and salary. There will also be questions relating to behavior and personality. Depending on the job you are applying for, you likely will be called back for a second interview. For those who speak Japanese, expect to be questioned in both English and Japanese.
  • Assessment Center: If you are applying for a flight attendant position. Expect to be at the assessment center the entire day. Here, you will be one of (sometimes) hundreds of job applicants. Your height and arm length will be measured, you will be called one by one into an office to have an interview. There will be times when you are asked to compete or role-play in various exercises. Situations will be drawn such as pretending to be a troubled traveler or how to deal with him. In each step, people will be asked to leave. Be sure to bring a book as it is possible you’ll be there for many hours.
