The Complete FRNSW Psychological Assessment Prep Course
The FRNSW online psychometric assessment is a pre-employment assessment used by Fire and Rescue NSW to screen recruit firefighter candidates, covering Cognitive Aptitude, Mechanical Reasoning, and Emotional Intelligence, delivered through the test provider Criteria.
The three tests run separately: the Cognitive Aptitude Test (CCAT) is 50 questions in 15 minutes, the Mechanical Reasoning Assessment (CMRA) is 30 questions in 15 minutes, and the Emotional Intelligence test (Emotify) is a game-based assessment made up of three interactive tasks taking around 20 minutes. It's a competitive, time-pressured set of tests rather than a specialist-knowledge one, so pacing and familiarity with the format matter as much as the content itself. The assessment is completed online from home, supported by live remote proctoring via webcam, microphone, and screen-sharing, alongside a separate video interview stage.

What are the Three Sections of the FRNSW Firefighter Test?
Mechanical Reasoning Test
Tests your ability to understand and apply basic mechanical and physical concepts, such as gears, levers, pulleys, wheels, and pressure, and to predict how a mechanical system will behave. 30 questions, 15 minutes.
Cognitive Aptitude Test
Tests your numerical, verbal, and abstract reasoning ability, working through problems quickly and accurately under a visible timer. 50 questions, 15 minutes.
Emotional Intelligence Test
Tests your ability to accurately perceive, understand, and manage emotions through three short interactive tasks, such as identifying the emotion shown on a person's face. Around 20 minutes in total.

No. This PrepPack is built specifically for the Written Selection Test (WST), the Literacy, Abstract Reasoning, Numeracy, and Mechanical Reasoning sections. The Group Assessment, Physical Aptitude Test, and Personality Profile are separate stages of FRV's recruitment process, assessed differently, and aren't covered here.
FRV was formed from the former Melbourne Fire Brigade (MFB) and Country Fire Authority (CFA), and the WST is administered by ACER, the same body that delivered aptitude testing when FRV operated as MFB. If you're applying under the FRV name today, this PrepPack is built for the current WST format.

The content was helpful and relevant, I just wish it was longer and included more for the price. I feel like I didn't get much help out of the practice exam.

Scheduled my test 6 days before the closing window and prepared using Job Test Prep! Was able to score in the high 80s! Had I not prepared with these practices, I may have not score as high as I did! Also I would not have been prepared and confident as I was taking the test!
