Hi, I'm Yedidya. I hold a B.A. in Psychology and am currently pursuing an M.A. in Organizational Psychology with a focus on psychometric assessment and testing methodology. I've been with JobTestPrep since 2020, where I've amassed significant expertise in industrial maintenance assessment preparation, helping thousands of candidates master the various Ramsay aptitude tests and secure professional roles at major employers.
My specialized knowledge of mechanical and electrical aptitude testing—particularly hydraulics, pneumatics, power transmission, control circuits, and troubleshooting logic - directly informs the Ramsay preparation materials on this page. I've worked extensively with the cognitive and technical frameworks underlying the Ramsay Corporation's assessment design, studying how employers like Amazon, Walmart, UPS, and USPS deploy these tests to evaluate maintenance competency. This deep expertise allows me to create realistic practice materials that mirror the exact technical demands and question patterns of the official Ramsay Corporation assessment exams.
My approach combines psychometric rigor with practical maintenance knowledge—ensuring that every practice question teaches you not just the correct answer, but the mechanical reasoning and troubleshooting logic you'll need on test day and in your actual future role.

Experience alone doesn't prove you can troubleshoot the mechanical systems that Fortune 500 companies depend on. Amazon, Walmart, UPS, Cummins, and Goodyear use the Ramsay Mechanical Test to verify candidates have the technical aptitude required for high-stakes maintenance and production roles -before a single interview is scheduled.
Passing positions you for:
One strong performance on the MAT-4 or MultiCraft Test signals to major employers that you have the mechanical reasoning skills for stable, well-paying technical careers with clear paths to advancement. The difference between an unprepared and a prepared candidate often isn't ability — it's score.
The three tests target different experience levels and roles. The MAT-4 consists of 36 multiple-choice questions completed within 20 minutes, and is designed to measure a candidate's potential to succeed in an apprenticeship or trainee program - not existing knowledge. The MecTest is a 60-question assessment for journey-level mechanical positions covering 8 content areas. The MultiCraft Test is also 60 questions but covers both mechanical and electrical topics, making it the broadest variant and the one most commonly required by large employers like Amazon and Walmart for RME and maintenance technician roles.
The MAT-4 is not designed to measure specific knowledge and skills, but rather the potential to be successful in an apprenticeship or trainee program. This is a crucial distinction: unlike the MecTest or MultiCraft — which are knowledge-based and require memorization of specific topics like hydraulics and control circuits — the MAT-4 tests your ability to reason through mechanical scenarios using everyday objects and basic physics. Questions might ask which object would be hottest after 90 seconds of heat exposure, or which bucket would empty faster based on the number of holes shown in a diagram.Preparation should therefore focus on sharpening reasoning speed and diagram interpretation rather than technical memorization.
The MAT-4 is currently available in English and Spanish. The previous version, MAT-3, was also available in French, but the MAT-4 has not yet been translated into French. Ramsay Corporation also offers accommodations for test takers who require them - examples include extra time, having the test read aloud, or administration in a quiet area. Candidates requiring extra time for an online test must contact Ramsay Corporation after the test is assigned but before the testing date.
There is no single universal passing score, but a score of at least 80% is generally required to pass. Beyond the raw score, Ramsay provides employers with both a local score (your performance compared to other applicants for the same role) and a national score (your performance compared to everyone who has ever taken the test). Employers tend to shortlist applicants who score in the top 20 to 30% meaning raw correctness isn't enough -you need to outperform other candidates. Importantly, incorrect answers don't deduct points, so it's important to answer every question even if you're unsure.
Ramsay Corporation's own guidelines state that organizations should establish written policies on frequency and conditions for retesting, and that retesting should be done using alternate, equivalent forms of the test whenever possible. In practice, you will typically have to wait around six months before reapplying for a new role and retaking the test - and in most cases this means submitting a new job application rather than simply requesting a retake. This makes first-attempt preparation critical.
