About

An accounts payable clerk is responsible for paying the bills of a business enterprise, in addition to maintaining all payments, transactions, and records. Accounts payable clerks are responsible for compiling debt invoices owed by various companies, vendors, or suppliers. However, it's important to note that the specific requirements and responsibilities of accounts payable clerks vary between business type and size.

Typically, if a business has a smaller accounting staff, then accounts payable clerks have numerous responsibilities and are required to possess an associate degree.

If a business has a larger accounting staff, then some of the responsibilities fall under the purview of other account positions. Therefore, accounts payable clerks in this situation may only be required to have a GED or high school diploma.

General Information about Accounts Payable Tests

An accounts payable assessment test is used by many companies to assess applicants' skills, capabilities, job knowledge, and accuracy. These tests measure a candidate's analytical ability to see and understand accounting concepts, processes, and rationale.

Typical accounting tests are comprised of about 40 multiple-choice questions. The degree of difficulty varies as it is dependent on the question type. Some questions require analysis and mathematical computations, while others are more straightforward.

Accounts Payable Test Topics

An accounts payable assessment test usually covers the following topics:

General Concepts – This covers account classification and relationships, transaction documentation and analysis, and financial statement presentation. This topic assesses your familiarity with basic concepts and processes involved in recording accounts payable transactions.
