Going through the hiring process could be difficult. Pacificorp requires you to go through several tests and interviews. These are not always the same for all candidates and heavily dependent on the job you are applying for. However, there are certain skills that all the candidates must have, and these include:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills required
  • Quick learning skills
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be team player

The Interviews at Pacificorp

The hiring process at Pacificorp requires you to participate in several interviews. These include:

  • Phone interviews. Phone interviews will be conducted via the telephone. There may be more than one interview. This type of interviews is more like a screening process with limited questioning. You will go over your resume, answer some simple behavioral questions and tell more about your salary requirements, availability and more. These interviews last between 10-30 minutes.
  • Video Interviews. Video interviews are sometimes used when there is difficulty to organize a face-to-face interview. These could be in two formats. One is a pre-recorded interview, whereby you are given a set of questions which you have to answer while recording yourself. You then send this video to the interviewers. Another type is the live interview which involves the use of Skype or a similar program. It will be like an in-person interview with more detailed questioning.
  • Panel Interviews. You may be required to participate in a panel interview in which you will be questioned simultaneously by multiple interviewers. Each of them will ask you questions and you will have to answer. There is a lot of pressure on candidates in these types of interviews. A panel interview can be an hour long.

The Tests at Pacificorp

Candidates are required to pass multiple tests to assess their general skills as wells as specific skills required by the job they are applying for at Pacificorp and may include the following:

  • The National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (NJATC) test. There are two parts to the NJATC test: Algebra & Functions, and Reading Comprehension. It is best to answer all the questions since there is no penalty for guessing. Your test is then scored by an independent facility that sends your results to your training center 2-4 weeks after you took the exam. The training center will mail these results to you. You will pass if you score at least 4 out of a possible 9.
  • A verbal test which will test your ability to communicate with your superiors and your co-workers.

Common Questions

Some of the interviews follow a standard formula and have standard questions. Here are some of the common questions that come up during interviews:

  • Describe a difficult work situation/project and how you overcame it.
  • Name a time where you were in an unethical situation, what did you do?
  • Tell me about yourself.
