Mercedes-Benz Hiring Process

The Mercedes-Benz USA hiring and recruitment process consists of the following steps:

  • Application/questionnaire – Mercedes-Benz USA utilizes Taleo’s applicant tracking system (ATS). Taleo is used to screen your application/questionnaire, resume, CV, and cover letter. This applicant tracking system assesses your answers and documents for keyword-specific phrases. Therefore, in order to have your paperwork successfully move forward in the hiring process, make sure that your answers and documents properly align with the job description.
  • Assessments – Mercedes-Benz USA utilizes an array of pre-employment assessment tests that vary depending on the job for which you are applying. Some of the tests you may encounter are Wonderlic (variety of tests), personality tests, and/or situational judgment tests.
  • Interviews – You may be contacted for a preliminary interview (telephone interviews), an in-person one-on-one or panel interview, or even a group interview/exercise.

Although Mercedes-Benz USA job candidates can experience a lengthy recruitment process, those who become full-time employees can expect promising benefits. Included in these benefits are medical plans, dental plans, vision plans, long term disability, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) matching (up to 6%), 12-16 vacation days, 12 paid holidays, and bonuses.

Mercedes-Benz Assessment Tests

Mercedes-Benz USA utilizes a variety of assessment tests in its hiring and recruitment process. Listed below are some of the assessments you may encounter.

Wonderlic Cognitive Ability

The Wonderlic Cognitive Ability–Personnel Test is designed to assess an applicant's ability to learn, adapt, solve problems, and understand instructions. There are two versions of this test: the Quicktest (WPT-Q) and the full-length version, Personnel Test (WPT-R).

The Wonderlic Personnel Quicktest (WPT-Q), also known as the Wonderlic Pretest, is the shortened version of the Wonderlic Personnel Test-R (WPT-R). This version consists of 30 questions which are to be completed within eight minutes. This test is not proctored and can sometimes be used as a preliminary exam for both the general hiring process and for the full-length WPT-R exam.

The Wonderlic Personnel Test–Revised, also known as the Contemporary Cognitive Ability Test, consists of 50 questions and must be completed within 12 minutes. With just over 14 seconds per question, the WPT-R requires strong analytical skills, quick response times, and good decision-making under time pressure.

Both tests contain questions about mathematics, vocabulary, grammar skills, analogies, finding similarities, error detecting, number series, sentence structuring, idiom proficiency, and complex mathematical word problems.

Personality Test

Mercedes-Benz USA utilizes personality tests to ensure that you are not only compatible with the position for which you are applying, but also compatible with the Mercedes-Benz company in general. Personality tests can highlight your professional strengths and weaknesses, in addition to providing employers with personal insight that may not come across in an interview. For example, a personality test may highlight your professional motivations, how you manage in stressful situations or your decision-making skills.

Excel and Typing Tests

By assessing your technical skills, Mercedes-Benz can gain insight to your capabilities and skill set. These tests are usually job-specific, but it is highly recommended that you prepare for these tests. JobTestPrep offers both Excel and Typing PrepPacks that can help you sharpen your skills, ensuring you successfully pass this stage of the recruitment process.
