Spherion Pre-Hire Testing – What to Expect?

Each position may require its own range of pre-hire testing. Here are some tests that are administered during the Spherion hiring process.

Excel Test

Some positions may require the advanced excel test, while most will only necessitate passing the basic level. In the basic test, most of the questions deal with basic formatting, standard tables and basic commands such as saving and printing properties (page breaks and print area definition. On the advanced test, many questions will deal with formulas, macro creation, advanced formatting and document properties.

Accounting Test

This test will be broken down into several categories, including accounting terms, problems, Alphabetizing/Filing, Memorization, Coding and inductive and deductive reasoning. The test is usually comprised of 40 multiple-choice questions that focus on job-specific requirements and responsibilities. The difficulty level of these assessments varies depending on both the specific job and the job level. Most common positions to take an accounting exam are accounts payable clerk, accounts receivable clerk, and bookkeepers.

Typing Test

Typing tests are typically given out to candidates during the pre-employment process as this is a way for employers to distinguish between qualified and unqualified candidates. Different professions require different typing skills. Some jobs are more concerned with overall speed while others focus on accuracy, and some jobs require both categories to be near perfect.
