there are many steps that you will need to complete in order to land a job as a firefighter for the Cape Coral Fire Department. These steps will most likely include:

  • CPAT Exam: Prior to submitting your application to the Cape Coral Fire Department, you will need to complete a CPAT exam at a licensed testing location. You will be able to find more information regarding where you can take the CPAT exam directly from the Cape Coral government website.
  • CCFD Application Process: If you have taken the CPAT within one (1) year of the job posting date, you will need to submit your application and resume to the Cape Coral Human Resources Department. Since applications are only accepted when a job is available, it would be wise to visit the Cape Coral Human Resources Department job descriptions page for updates.
  • CCFD Aptitude Testing: If you have been selected to proceed to the next step in the Cape Coral Fire Department recruitment process, you will need to complete a written assessment supervised by CCFD.
  • CCFD Interviews: If you have passed each of the aforementioned stages of the hiring process, you will be invited to engage in one or more sit-down interviews. Be prepared for each type of interview, including one-on-one,

Offers of employment will be contingent upon participating and passing the following:

  • Background Check (includes fingerprinting)
  • Psychological Assessment

Cape Coral Fire Department's Pre-Hire Assessment

Cape Coral Fire Department careers always begin with taking the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT). The CPAT itself is a physical test which consists of 8 different tasks. You will need to complete each of these tasks in no more than 10 minutes and 20 seconds. The tasks that you will need to perform include stair climbing with equipment, hose drag, ladder raise & extension, etc.

Once you have passed the CPAT and have submitted your application, you will then be required to take a written aptitude test overseen by the CCFD. This assessment will evaluate a variety of skills including mechanical reasoning, math and verbal reasoning, situational judgment, personality, and more.
