Computerized integrity tests are included in the hiring process for a variety of positions and organizations, in order to try and detect worrisome candidate behaviors and tendencies. During the test, you will be shown over 100 statements on topics like drug and alcohol abuse, gambling, workplace relationships, and safety conduct, e.g., “an employee that gambles illegally should be fired”, or “I have never hidden a mistake I did, even a small one.” You will have to answer whether the statements are correct or describe you accurately.
Not Just a Background Check
Integrity tests are not only used to disqualify candidates who have committed crimes or unethical acts (e.g., fraud, bribery, or harassment) but also to identify risk behaviors that could create problems in the workplace.
Therefore, many statements presumably ask about candidates' worldviews (e.g., “most people drink alcohol at least once a week”), while others ask directly about candidates' past behaviors (e.g., “have you ever consumed illegal drugs?”).
Designed to Pressure
Many companies include alerts during the tests that are intended to pressure the candidates to say the truth, like “we detected a contradiction in your answers”.
To understand the rationale behind every statement and to avoid being intimidated by the alerts or sharing too much information, it is best to prepare for the test in advance and gain some experience in dealing with the hard questions that are posed by it.
Our online integrity test prep pack will help you practice different question types expected in the test and learn what each question evaluates.
The prep pack includes three preparation sections:
After you complete the prep pack, you will feel that the test is a lot more accessible, the results are less confusing, and you are able to make a more informed decision when choosing answers.
