There's no universally good MVPI profile. What matters is how well your values and motivations align with the role and company culture you're applying to.
Since the test has no right or wrong answers, preparation is less about strategy and more about understanding what each dimension reveals and answering in a way that's both honest and consistent.
A few things worth keeping in mind as you prepare:
- Understand what each dimension measures: Knowing what Recognition, Power, or Tradition actually assess helps you recognize the intent behind a statement, rather than being caught off guard by unfamiliar phrasing.
- Think about the role and culture you're applying to: A profile that's ideal for a fast-paced sales role may look very different from one suited to a structured, process-driven position. There's no single correct answer, only the best fit.
- Answer consistently: Since the MVPI (like Hogan's other assessments) is designed to reveal genuine patterns rather than one-off responses, contradicting yourself across similar statements is more likely to hurt your results than any single wrong answer would.
- Remember that it's not given in isolation: The MVPI is typically administered alongside other Hogan tests, so your overall profile - not just your MVPI results alone - is what employers use to make decisions.
Our MVPI PrepPack includes an in-depth study guide covering all 10 dimensions, along with a full-length practice simulation, so you know what to expect and how your responses are likely to be interpreted.
If you're preparing for more than just the MVPI, our Hogan Bundle covers every test you might face in one package, giving you the most all-inclusive Hogan preparation opportunity.
