ThoughtWorks Hiring Process

ThoughtWorks hiring process consists of the following:

  • Complete an online application.
  • Set up a preliminary, informal telephone interview.
  • Set up a technical interview, completed via video.
  • Complete a technical assignment—this is your chance to demonstrate your skill set.
  • Complete a face-to-face interview.
  • Complete and pass assessment tests (as outlined below).

ThoughtWorks Assessment Tests

ThoughtWorks uses a variety of Wonderlic tests for its pre-employment assessment tests. Depending on the job level and position, you may encounter the following exams.

The Wonderlic Cognitive Ability Test

The Wonderlic Cognitive Ability–Personnel Test assesses an applicant's ability to learn, adapt, solve problems, and understand instructions. It measures applicants' verbal and math skills through questions that test knowledge of vocabulary and grammar (analogies, finding similarities, sentence structuring, and error detecting), as well as the ability to solve number series questions and complex mathematical word problems.

There are two versions of this Wonderlic test—the Quicktest (WPT-Q) and the full-length version, Personnel Test (WPT-R).

The Wonderlic Personnel Test-Revised, also known as the Contemporary Cognitive Ability Test, consists of 50 questions and must be completed within 12 minutes. To answer all the questions within the time limit, it is vital that you sharpen your analytical skills, quick response times, and decision-making skills.

The Wonderlic Personnel Test–Quicktest (WPT-Q), also known as the Wonderlic Pretest, is the shortened version of the Wonderlic Personnel Test–Revised (WPT-R). This version contains 30 questions which must be completed within 8 minutes.

Personality Test

Depending on the position, ThoughtWorks may require you to complete personality tests to ensure that you are not only compatible with the position for which you are applying, but also compatible with the company itself.

Personality tests can highlight your professional strengths and weaknesses, in addition to providing employers with personal insight that may not come across in an interview.
