Telephone Interview: The preliminary interview phase may be a short screening phone conversation over the phone with an HR representative, to explain the details of the position. The hiring team will want to get to know more about job applicants before moving forward.

Tests: Completing the entrance exams is normally a necessary step so that employers can collect more inclusive knowledge about applicants’ cognitive abilities.
The Wonderlic Personnel Tests, also known as the Wonderlic Cognitive Ability Test, is used as a pre-employment assessment to measure candidates’ aptitude in solving problems and following instructions. Two Wonderlic tests are included; the Wonderlic Personnel Test-Quicktest (WPT-Q) and the Wonderlic Personnel Test-Revised (WPT-R). The Wonderlic Personality Tests assess various characteristics which may offer employers with a more in-depth understanding of candidates’ personality traits and suitability for the position. These assessments are calculated by the number of questions answered properly in the selected time.
Interviewers can pose a variety of questions based different interviewing methods. Case interviews assess candidates one-on-one or in group exercises. This method measures one’s investigative decision-making skills, mathematical, and verbal reasoning abilities. Competency-based interviews ask applicants about their past experiences to draw conclusions inferring to their potential performance in the workplace. Additionally, technical questions assess one’s skills required for the desired career.
