QLD Police Entrance Exam

The Queensland Police Department utilizes a variety of pre-employment tests in their hiring and recruitment process. Some of the tests you may encounter are outlined below. It is important to note that high scores on each test mean a better chance at higher placement on the candidate list.

Wonderlic Cognitive Ability

The Wonderlic Cognitive Ability—Personnel Test is designed to assess an applicant's ability to learn, adapt, solve problems, and understand instructions. There are two versions of this test, the Quicktest (WPT-Q), and the full-length version, the Personnel Test (WPT-R).

The Wonderlic Personnel Test-Revised, also known as the Contemporary Cognitive Ability Test, consists of 50 questions and must be completed within 12 minutes. With just over 14 seconds per question, the WPT-R requires strong analytical skills, quick response times, and good decision-making under time pressure.

The Wonderlic Personnel Quicktest (WPT-Q), also known as the Wonderlic Pretest, is the shortened version of the Wonderlic Personnel Test-R (WPT-R). This test consists of 30 questions which are to be completed within 8 minutes. This test is not proctored and can sometimes be used as a preliminary exam in the general hiring process.

Both tests contain questions about vocabulary, grammar, analogies, sentence structuring, idiom proficiency, finding similarities, mathematics, error detecting, number series, and complex mathematical word problems.

Psychological and Personality Test

Personality tests are utilized to ensure that you are not only compatible with the position for which you are applying, but also with the lifestyle and demands of law enforcement. Personality tests can highlight your professional strengths and weaknesses, in addition to providing employers with personal insight that may not come across in an interview or assessment test. For example, a personality test may highlight your professional motivations, how you act in stressful situations or your decision-making skills.

JobTestPrep can help you prepare for various pre-employment tests with our custom PrepPacks™. Our preparation materials include practice tests and drills, study guides, detailed answer explanations, solving tips and methods, and score reports.
