Qantas Pilot Preparation Tests

In order to become a pilot with Qantas, you will need to successfully complete several pre-employment assessments. Some of the assessments tests you may encounter are as follows:

  • Numerical reasoning tests – These tests are designed to assess your numerical and critical reasoning skills. You are given numerous pieces of information via graphs and charts, and you must work out the correct solutions.
  • Verbal reasoning tests – These tests provide you with a paragraph of information and some multiple-choice questions. Based on the text, you must select the correct answer. This is done under severe time constraints, so you need to work fast in order to complete the test in the time allotted.
  •  Logical reasoning – These tests assess your ability to read and understand complicated texts and, most importantly, to utilize critical thinking skills to draw conclusions and recognize important facts.
  •  Abstract/Figural reasoning – These tests measure your ability to draw assumptions and conclusions based on information supplied in the form of symbols or matrices. On these tests, you are asked to identify a missing item or diagram that completes a certain pattern of logic.
  •  Situational judgement tests – These tests present you with hypothetical, yet realistic, work scenarios.
  •  Simulator assessment – Just as it sounds, you will be asked to complete an assessment where you will have to conduct a flight simulation and other non-flying pilot responsibilities.
  • Capacity assessment – These tests cover topics such as shape testing, flight director testing, flight director testing while multitasking, and flight crew testing.

Qantas Situational Judgement Test

Situational judgement tests (SJTs) are a popular psychological tool used by assessment companies, employers, and organizations to evaluate applicants' behavioral and cognitive abilities when introduced with hypothetical, daily work-related situations. SJTs do not consist of one uniform format and do not focus on strict criteria, but rather they serve as a tailored evaluation tool for a variety of positions and business sectors. Therefore, different companies and diverse positions within an organization require different questions and formats.

Qantas Spatial Reasoning Test

Spatial reasoning refers to the ability to understand and remember spatial relations among objects and space. Spatial reasoning is also referred to as spatial visualization, spatial ability, and spatial intelligence. Questions normally include different shapes that need to be mentally manipulated in 2D or 3D. This is a skill which can be strengthened and improved with practice, thus building up your advantage over other candidates.

Why is a Resume and Interview Not Enough for Qantas to Base a Decision?

It is easy to stretch the truth on a resume and prepare great answers for a one on one interview about what you did for another company, success rates and so on. However, proving your skills in a real-time simulation like building an effective excel list or coming up with innovative solutions on a time limit is more difficult to fake. The tests allow your future employer to gauge your skill in real time

Why Is It Important to Prepare for the Qantas Assessment Tests?
