James Hardie Assessment Tests

James Hardie Wonderlic Cognitive Ability Test

James Hardie uses a variety of assessment tests in its pre-employment hiring process. However, one of its core assessment tests is the Wonderlic Cognitive Ability – Personnel Test, and depending on the job level and position, you may encounter the “quick test” or the full-length test.

The Wonderlic Cognitive Ability is designed to assess your ability to learn, adapt, solve problems, and understand instructions—specifically focusing on your verbal and math skills. Furthermore, there are two versions of this Wonderlic test – the Quicktest (WPT-Q) and the full-length version, Personnel Test (WPT-R).

The Wonderlic Personnel Test-Revised consists of 50 questions and must be completed within 12 minutes. The questions on this test (and the Quicktest) cover vocabulary and grammar skills, analogies, finding similarities, error detecting, number series, sentence structuring, idiom proficiency, and complex mathematical word problems. In order to answer all the questions within the time limit, it is vital that you possess strong analytical skills, good decision-making skills, and have quick response times.

The Wonderlic Personnel Quicktest (WPT-Q), also known as the Wonderlic Pretest, is the shortened version of the Wonderlic Personnel Test-R (WPT-R). This version consists of 30 questions which are to be completed within eight minutes. Similar to the WPT-R, this test measures your verbal and math skills.

James Hardie Caliper Test

  • What is your process for creating a marketing strategy?
  • What is the most creative project you’ve worked on?
  • How do you deal with stress? How do you deal with conflict?
  • Tell me about a time where you had to adjust when the original plan failed?
  • What do you know about this company? What do you know about this position?

What Is The James Hardie Aptitude Test?

The Aptitude Tests evaluates those cognitive abilities that are related to your job performance and your general aptitude for the role for which you are applying. Cognitive abilities that are measured by the Aptitude Test are abstract reasoning, conceptual reasoning, verbal reasoning, and numerical reasoning.

What Should I Expect on the Personality Test?

The Personality Test is a more reliable means of evaluating the personality of potential employees that interviews. This test is so cleverly constructed by leading psychologists that it presents employers with a clear picture of whom they are considering for an applied position. It allows employers to predict whether their potential employees will demonstrate production, property, or political deviance and whether they are likely to become aggressive or vengeful when interacting with their co-workers. To ascertain these unpleasant possibilities more precisely, the Personality Test contains several types of questions. Some of them will present you with pictures of people and you will need to describe their emotional reaction to certain circumstances. Other questions will require you to rank your attitude to given statements, on the scale from the least agreement to the most agreement. The Personality Test is usually long and may take you up to 3 hours to answer all its questions.

How Can I Prep for a Panel Interview?

Granted the panel interview is harder to pass than a one and one, but this also gives you the opportunity to ask questions and open up a discussion. Generally, 6 or 7 people will participate in the panel including managers and team leaders, who will switch off asking you questions to ensure you have a serious grasp of the technical and interpersonal aspects of the position. Much of the questioning will revolve around how you might correct work situations on a sliding scale, while other questions will be about your work past and even hobbies. Company culture and office atmosphere is a big thing these days.

How Should I Choose My References?

You should choose your references wisely. One negative reference may undo the hard work you have done on your pre-employment tests and interviews. Be careful, therefore, to put only those people on your list of references who will speak highly of you. Also remember that personal references are preferred less by employers than professional references. They believe that the opinion of friends and relatives are always biased and trust more references given by an applicant’s professional associations such as co-workers or teammates. Managers and supervisors are also a good choice of references, though in some companies they may be forbidden to speak about their former employees.
