James Hardie Hiring Process

The James Hardie hiring and recruitment process consists of the following steps:

  • Application – James Hardie utilizes a SuccessFactors applicant tracking system (ATS) to analyze your application, questionnaire, resume, CV, and cover letter. Learn about applicant tracking systems, and how to beat them, on our dedicated ATS page.
  • Telephone interview – Telephone interviews are an efficient way for employers to screen for good candidates. Prepare for telephone interviews with our Interview PrepPack™.
  • Assessment tests – After successfully completing your telephone interview, you will be asked to complete assessment tests (the test is dependent on the position you are applying for).
  • In-person interview – If you pass the assessment tests, you will be asked to meet for in-person interviews. Use this opportunity to ask questions and highlight your strengths and skill set.

James Hardie Assessment Tests

James Hardie uses a variety of assessment tests in its pre-employment hiring process. However, one of its core assessment tests is the Wonderlic Cognitive Ability – Personnel Test, and depending on the job level and position, you may encounter the “quick test” or the full-length test.

The Wonderlic Cognitive Ability is designed to assess your ability to learn, adapt, solve problems, and understand instructions—specifically focusing on your verbal and math skills. Furthermore, there are two versions of this Wonderlic test – the Quicktest (WPT-Q) and the full-length version, Personnel Test (WPT-R).

The Wonderlic Personnel Test-Revised consists of 50 questions and must be completed within 12 minutes. The questions on this test (and the Quicktest) cover vocabulary and grammar skills, analogies, finding similarities, error detecting, number series, sentence structuring, idiom proficiency, and complex mathematical word problems. In order to answer all the questions within the time limit, it is vital that you possess strong analytical skills, good decision-making skills, and have quick response times.

The Wonderlic Personnel Quicktest (WPT-Q), also known as the Wonderlic Pretest, is the shortened version of the Wonderlic Personnel Test-R (WPT-R). This version consists of 30 questions which are to be completed within eight minutes. Similar to the WPT-R, this test measures your verbal and math skills.

JobTestPrep can help you prepare for the Wonderlic Cognitive Ability tests with our Wonderlic PrepPack™. Our preparation materials include practice tests and drills, study guides, detailed answer explanations, solving tips and methods, and score reports.
