The Hogan Personality Assessment that you may be asked to take can be of two types. There are the Hogan Personality Inventory (HPI) or the Hogan Development Survey (HDS). Although both these tests are Personality Assessments, they are diametrically opposed to each other, because they evaluate the bright and dark sides of the human personality.
The Hogan Personality Inventory measures the bright side of our personalities, centering on those traits that help us communicate with each other productively and amicably. Qualities evaluated in the HPI usually predict that those applicants who possess them have good social skills and can have harmonious relationship with their co-workers.
The Hogan Development Survey focuses, in contrast, on the negative side of our personalities; that is, it evaluates those qualities that prevent us from succeeding in our workplace. The HDS also traces a fine line between positive and negative valences of the same trait, marking a moment when a certain good quality becomes unpleasant and destructive. Displayed under stress or in hard times, our bad qualities can significantly worsen our performance at work and make our presence burdensome for our co-workers.
Employers use the Hogan Personality Inventory and Hogan Development Survey to ensure that they hire only those employees who would not demonstrate counterproductive, disagreeable qualities and would not create an unpleasant working environment. Among those companies who consistently resort to administering the Hogan Personality Assessment to job candidates are the following:

This is an organisation whose business is to regulate international trade. It operates under the Marrakesh Agreement that in 1995 replaced the earlier General Agreement on Traffic and Trade. The WTO’s major role is to regulate trade in goods, various services, and intellectual property between countries. It performs these regulations by providing a framework for negotiating trade agreements and a dispute resolution process. The WTO also reviews the national trade policies, ensuring their transparency and coherence. In developing and low-income countries, the organisation explains to traders how to comply to the existing rules of international trading. To ensure that its employees can work with other people in an amicable manner and can effectively regulate traders’ compliance with trade agreements, the WTO offers job applicants to pass the Hogan Personality Test. Designed to evaluate how well job candidates build good relationship with their colleagues and clients, the test allows employers to hire employees that will make the regulation of international trade even more efficient and smooth.
