The GEO Application Process

The GEO Group, Inc. (GEO) is a leading provider of correctional and community reentry services with a global number of 20,500 employees. GEO's success is achieved by hiring highly professional and skilled workers and providing them with a respectable career.

There are a few simple steps involved in the GEO employment process:

  • Online Application: The application process may be completed online by submitting an online form and resume, or through an employee referral.
  • During the initial phone call, the recruiter may ask about your previous work experience and provide additional information about the company, the new department, and the role being applied for.
  • In-Person Interview: Onsite interview may be done by the warden or captain, as well as by the HR recruiter. One-on-one and group interviews may take place during this time and requires sufficient preparation beforehand.
  • Tests: It is important to practice for the psychometric entrance exams before going through the hiring process. These aptitude tests will provide you with a GEO score evaluation to help you acquire the knowledge-base needed.

The GEO Test Stage

Psychometric testing may include aptitude tests which assess candidates’ cognitive abilities and skills. The cognitive ability test is used to determine whether applicants possess problem-solving capabilities, skill learning competencies, and critical thinking skills. Other tests which may be administered during the employment process are the verbal, mathematical, and abstract reasoning exams. These assessments measure applicants’ understanding of mathematical data as well as their verbal comprehension and logical thought processing. An accounting test may also be administered if applicants apply for this specific role.

GEO Interview Questions

Possible GEO questions which may be asked during the interview process are based on past experiences and are used to judge whether interviewees have the skills and personality which the job position requires. Examples of GEO interview questions include:

  • Describe a time when a co-worker wasn't willing to work. What did you do and what were the results?
  • Name a time when you had to resolve a conflict, and how you did so.
  • Why should we hire you for this position?
  • Describe a difficult assignment that your employer assigned to you. How did you accomplish it?

The STAR method can be considered when answering the interview questions and will leave a good impression on your interviewers. This method is performed by addressing a situation, describing the task involved and the action which you took to reach the resolution.
