The Hiring Process at GEA

The hiring process at GEA includes the following steps:

  • An online application with an updated CV and a covering letter explaining why you would like to work for GEA and how your skills and experience meet the requirements outlined in the job description.
  • The recruiter will assess potential candidates according to their skills, experience, and suitability for the position. For some positions, language skills are mandatory. The most promising candidates will be invited to attend an interview, usually with the head of the relevant department, or function and HR manager. Where a candidate is living in a different country, interviews may be arranged by telephone or Skype. Depending on the position and country location, there will be a second round of interviews before they make the final selection.
  • Remember! The interview is a two-way conversation – they want to know about your skills and experience, and you have the opportunity to find out more about them. Be prepared to discuss your strengths and expertise and what you can contribute to the role and GEA.

 

GEA Interview Preparation

Here is some more information about the interviews mentioned above:

  • A phone interview. Phone interviews are interviews conducted by telephone. This type of interview usually lasts around 30 minutes, during which candidates are asked a series of questions. Typically, if the phone interview goes well, then the interviewers will ask you to come in for a formal face-to-face interview.
  • A video interview. Two types of video interviews exist, a live one and a pre-recorded one. A live video interview, which will be done through Skype, will assess you more closely. It usually has behavioral based questions and some technical questions. This type of interview can take between 40-60 minutes. A pre-recorded video interview involves employers sending you a link to an interview platform which contains pre-determined interview questions. Here, you will have a chance to briefly view the question before you record and submit your answer.
  • In-person interviews. If the phone interview was successful, you will be invited to a series of face-to-face (or in-person) interviews. These will be done with multiple people like the HR representative, your direct superior and the hiring manager.

 

Tests Conducted by GEA

Candidates are required to pass multiple tests to assess their general skills as wells as specific skills required by the job they are applying for at GEA and may include the following:

  • The Predictive Index Assessment measures four primary characteristics of personality: dominance, extroversion, patience, and formality. From the view of prospective employers, the goal in administering a PI Behavioral Assessment is predicting workplace performance, and candidates' responses on the PI indicate behavioral propensities. There are two pages on the assessment, each containing a list of 86 adjectives, and the assessment is untimed.
  • A numerical reasoning test. A numerical reasoning teste generally refers to tests in which more than just basic arithmetic is involved. There are four major topics covered on these tests – word problems, number series, tables and graphs and sufficiency questions.
  • English tests. These tests are used to assess candidates for jobs where a good grasp of both written and spoken English is necessary. These assessments can cover general language skills but can also be focused on a certain field, such as technical or medical roles where specific vocabulary is necessary.

Some of the common interview questions that you may come across during your hiring process at GEA include:

  • Give some examples of your teamwork in completing a critical project.
  • What major challenges and problems have you faced? How did you handle them?
  • During your work experiences, tell me about a time when you demonstrated that you have the ability and desire to work effectively with your coworkers.
