FMCG Graduate Recruitment

Before entertaining to apply for a FMCG Graduate position, it is important to get a sense of the stages of the recruitment process:

  • Your journey will begin with the online application.
  • Next you will be asked to take various online assessment tests. For instance, Danone will request of you to complete the CEB SHL verbal and numerical reasoning tests. Each company will have their own requirements.
  • After successfully completing the online tests, you may be invited for either a phone or video interview as is the case in Kerry Group and Unilever.
  • In the next step you may be required (varying between company and country) to attend a day at an assessment center or as in the case of Procter & Gamble you will only be required to go through two in person traditional styled interviews.

FMCG Online Tests

Here are a few tests you may face during the application process.

Raven Matrices Assessment Test (Matrigma)

The Matrigma test is composed of matrices and is essentially founded on the famous Raven matrices, the classic matrix test upon which all GMA tests are based. The Matrigma is a non-verbal test and is therefore easily adaptable for speakers of different languages. It is considered by many to be the truest form of GMA.

The Matrigma test differs from similar tests for two main reasons. Firstly, the Matrigma test is longer than other psychometric tests; it takes 40 minutes to complete, as opposed to other tests which take approximately 20 minutes. Secondly, the Matrigma increases in difficulty as you work your way through it. This is of huge importance to the employer, as they can easily discern who has performed to a high level and who has not.

Word and Excel 2016

On the Microsoft assessment tests most of the questions deal with basic formatting, standard tables and basic commands such as saving and printing properties (page breaks and print area definition). You will also be required to know how to define a cell reference, filter and sort data and manage the page layout. However, basic is not necessarily easy. You still have to know the software's fundamentals.
