The different steps in the hiring process are:

  • Application: Apply online, or through college or university.
  • Interviews: You might have several rounds: A phone conversation with the HR manager; a panel interview with the professional managers.
  • Tests: You might be required to take several exams.

CUNY’s Aptitude Tests

The assessments might vary according to the position’s requirements. We recommend you to practice for the following:

  • SJT: In the Situational Judgment Test, you are given work-related issues, and asked to solve them.
  • Personality: A questionnaire with which the employees can see various aspects of your character, focusing on traits related to the role you are interested in.
  • Abstract (also known as inductive / diagrammatic) Reasoning: You will be given symbols or matrices, and asked to identify a missing diagram or item that completes a logic pattern.
  • Verbal Reasoning: Uses texts to evaluate your grammar, vocabulary, comprehension and your analytic skills.
  • Mathematical Reasoning: Examines your quantitative abilities.
  • Excel 2016: Tests your level and knowledge in excel.
