Situational Judgement Tests

When answering a question on an SJT, try to imagine yourself at work, and answer the questions accordingly. This is quite important since we all act and react differently inside and out of the workplace. When taking a situational judgment test, you want to answer as your 'work self'—the logical, reasonable, mature version of yourself.

Mathematical Reasoning

Mathematical Reasoning tests often assess your mathematical skills that you probably haven’t used in years. Our practice packs include answers and explanations to make sure you are fully prepared for test day. Using our PrepPacks™ gives you a great base in your skill level that will enable you to really get to grips with any type of question that may come up.

American Fidelity Assurance Interview

In your interview with American Fidelity Assurance, you should expect questions focusing on your competencies. Come prepared with answers about your experience addressing situations which relate to key competencies relating to your American Fidelity Assurance. Use our Interview PrepPack™ to practice answering interview questions and to ensure a stellar performance during your American Fidelity Assurance interview.

What is the American Fidelity Assurance telephone interview?

This is often a preliminary interview. These questions are essentially competency-based questions. The interviewers are looking for you to provide examples of where you have displayed these competencies in the past. The telephone interview has some advantages over a regular interview - you can wear comfortable clothing, and keep your answers written out in front of you, but it can also contain the same pressure as an interview when it comes to answering questions.

What should I emphasize during my American Fidelity Assurance interview?

Typically you should emphasize why you are the correct choice for the job. You should bring in good examples from past experiences to show that you have the skills needed to succeed. Use the STAR method to answer questions as this provides a complete picture and is an engaging way to answer.

Frequently Asked Questions by American Fidelity Assurance Applicants

Is Being Consistent Important on Personality Tests?

Being consistent is very important when taking a personality assessment test. On personality tests, you may be asked similar questions that are worded differently. If you answer these similar questions differently, it will be reflected in your results. For instance, it could appear to assessors as if you did not answer both questions completely honestly, which may result in you not getting the job. However, being consistent is not something you need to focus on, as it is not measured. It is a problem only if you significantly contradict yourself; for example, answering "agree" to "I'm never late" and "I have a tendency to be late to some meeting." At times during the test, you may encounter similar statements but not agree or disagree with all of them; in this case, it is fine to answer differently. For example, answering "agree" to both "I prefer working with people rather than working along" and "Sometimes, I need some alone time."

How are SJTs Formulated?

The scenarios presented on SJTs always ask for a resolution of a given conflict which, although being hypothetical, might very much rely on, or represent, realistic situations that occur in a workplace. You will then be asked to choose a preferred method of action out of a number of possible options. The conflict/scenario may involve supervisor-subordinate relationships, stress and disagreement between work colleagues, etc. The situations described may vary according to the role one is applying for. Managers, police officers, sales representatives, etc. are all likely to receive different questionnaires, as they are being evaluated for specific traits and aptitudes. You are encouraged to choose your responses spontaneously, based on intuition; however, analyzing the scenarios and choosing responses that highlight your skills will allow you to better present yourself on the test.
